Waiting So Long For The Groove

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

The only thing that really annoys me is slow internet speeds. There is nothing more annoying than waiting for that song to download off iTunes or even more so, trying to upload songs so we can share them with you. The main reason I’m saying this is because I had a mixtape ready to share with you all but it was taking soooo long to upload. So I looked into one act who was featured, which I’ll be honest with you I didn’t know much about, and scoped them out. I found Sidechains. These guys are straight out of Barcelona and have left a trail of remixes and original tracks.

I have two tracks, one a remix of Madonna‘s track Into The Groove. And I love what Sidechains has done with this tune.

Into The Groove – Madonna (Sidechains Remix) (320)

Next up is the original and it’s called Waiting So Long. This has that mellow feel, more laid back which is hot right now… it reminds me of lounge but.. different. It has a twist of house, more upbeat with a funky bass line. Sidechains featured on the comp cd Droppin Bombs Vol. 2 and is available off iTunes.

Three Twelves

Monday, July 28th, 2008

Here are three tracks from our good friends from Rio de Janeiro. The Twelves have been around for about two years now and have left a trail of killer tunes. Remixing other artists like M.I.A and Asobi Seksu just to name a few. There are a heap more remixes and originals on their myspace so check it out.!

First up I have, I’m Not Gonna Teach Your BF How To Dance by Black Kids. Long name, but catchy tune. Enough said.

I’m Not Gonna Teach Your BF How To Dance – Black Kids (The Twelves Remix) (192)

Next I have YOA by Theatre Of Disco. I think this is the one that is least like the other two. A little more laid back and relaxed. Still and awesome remix with killer bass lines which I love with an awesome break down… what goes down must come up.

YOA – Theatre of Disco (The Twelves Remix) (164)

And last but not least Drugs In My Body by Thieves Like Us. I love the way this song starts of.. and of course the rest of it.. You can pick up the original from the Kitsune shop here.

Sleepy Head

Monday, July 28th, 2008

Passion Pit have been around for a little while now and their track Sleepy Head is making its rounds through the blogs… It was a couple of weeks ago where a friend told me all about this track and how he cant stop playing it. Now either can I.

This song reminds me of anything from The Avalanches straight away.. the samples, the style, the softness, everything. It has a catchy pop side with a steady beat. I can see these guys taking off over the next couple of months.

Heartbreaker

There has been plenty of love for Kris Menace tracks over the past months and this Metronomy mix is a perfect example of why. Its nice Arcade Fire feel, and soft lyrics are almost seductive. So get up and dance!!

R!M!E! Hits The Ground

Thursday, July 24th, 2008

Since we were sent these tracks I have had To The Ground on repeat. This is one catchy toon. I don’t know how to explain it, but there is something about this song that is soo bad ass.. I think mostly the burning bass line. It just gets you bouncing. We were also sent another of R!M!E!‘s tracks, Wet That… Just as catchy and another killer tune.

Be sure to check out many more of R!M!E!‘s tracks on his myspace.. Remember, His straight out of Sydney so check it out for any updates or where his playing.

Chrome Knight

Thursday, July 17th, 2008

After his track Ghetto Obsession tore up the dancefloors Surkin is back with another which is going to take off. It’s called Chrome Knight and features Chromeo on top of White Knight Two released earlier this year. This ex-contemporary artist has but away the paint brush is pulling out the big guns producing some killer tunes. You can also pick up more of Surkin‘s tracks on Beatport.

Chrome Knight feat. Chromeo – Surkin (192)

I also have a(nother) remix of Sinden‘s track Beeper, this time its done by A-Trak. And I’ve got to admit I dig this remix, different to the rest, but still keeping the original sound.

Love DFA

These days it seems everything cool is comming out of DFA. They are one hell of a record label, home to such acts as LCD Soundsystem, Hercules And Love Affair and veteran Holy Ghost. Today we have the extended Holy Ghost remix featured in Cut Copy’s mix CD, So Cosmic.

Panthers – Goblin City (Holy Ghost! Extended Disco Dub) (320)

21st Century Mehdi

Wednesday, July 16th, 2008

As the original works it’s way up the English charts, DJ Mehdi is back at his old tricks.. This time making a secret disco dub. Sam Sparro released his first album back in May and this is just one of the tracks off it. 21st Century Life says it as it is, and Sparro has no problems in saying it. And you have got to dig that bass solo, look out for it.

You can pick up the Sam Sparro’s album here.
