i need a dollah!

Wednesday, March 31st, 2010

Aloe Blacc is not a name well known in the dance world by any means. He released his first LP Shone Through in 2006 which personally i believed seem a tad confusing, not only for the listened but for Aloe Blacc himself. It was soul meets rap meets r’n'b, but not in a good way. Some songs seemed heavily inspired by blues/rock of the 50′s (which i loved) and others seemed like a bad John Legend rip-off. BUT in his defense this was 4 years ago and well ahead of the trend.

Today though he is getting mainstream success with his newest single ‘I Need A Dollar‘ from his forthcoming LP which has been the theme song to HBO’s How To Make It In America. The Song itself seems to embody Summer vibes unlike anything else. ENJOY!

There is a heap of hype about Two Door Cinema Club due to their forthcoming release. And remixes coming from everywhere. So here is another one by Danny G. Let me know what you think…. I like it.

I received an email from a group that call themselves The Love Agency. Classified as a ‘new ideas‘ agency they have created a collection of human sized posters inspired by famous indie love songs. Definatly worth checking them out here.

Reset! have had huge success in recent months with their remixes of Cassius and The Count & Sinden. Kry Wolf of the Sounds Of Sumo record label has done, what he has dubbed, a space disco remix of If We Try. This song will be on high rotation this summer in Europe.
