I love this song and this video clip. Death In Plains – Whirlwind.

Heartbeat

Sunday, September 5th, 2010

The Vanish are at it again with their latest release, ‘Heartbeat.’ Over the last two years, the guys had moved from Australia to the states, working on opposite sides of the continent exchanging song ideas over the internet. While this was all going on they wrote some songs, got noticed last year through blogs, signed with some record label and both members now live in NYC. Their latest release has been remixed by some guys and now its for sale here and here. I am actually really digging it. Nice work guys!

To kind of entice you I guess here are a couple of remixes.

This is fucking awesome. Moonchild is on fire…. Everytime I get an email with something to do with him it goes straight to to top of the list to check out. This time he has worked his magic on 16 year-old Kamei‘s track ‘Plenetary’. A hot new disco jam defiantly worth checking out.

Friendly Fires are back with a hint of new material as we await a follow up to their debut album. They have partnered up with Azari  & III to create a deep house/Nu Disco influenced single for Friendly Fires Bugged Out mix. It sits perfectly between the other tracks chosen for the mix, although as single, I’m not sure it holds its own.

Simian Mobile Disco‘s second release on their new record label Delicacies has just been released via facebook for one pound. They have followed the food theme as promised with the new tracks titled Casu Marzu and 1000 Year Egg. Both tracks are techno in its truest form and it is truly a bargain for one pound ($AUD 1.58).

Chromeo‘s twenty ten release has to be one of the most anticipated of the year. Business Casual hits the shelves in a week and already boasts some of the biggest singles of the year including Night By Night and Don’t Turn The Lights On. I’ve had the opportunity of giving this record a test run and i can happily say that hit the nail on the head, it will be huge for the coming summer months and I am jealous that I don’t get the chance to see them take Holy Ghost around the US.

Chromeo – Night By Night (192)

Gomma have just released their fourth compilation in series that showcases the label’s best new music. This album has great songs remixed by some of my favourite producers. Remixes included feature Zombie Nation, Prins Thomas, Siriusmo, Azari & III and Trentmoller. Buy it here.

The guys at Gomma also have a record coming out in literally a couple of days titled Italo! House! Now! which is showing off the best in current Italian Disco House with artist like Rodion and Bottin leading the charge. (more info)

Telonius – Disco-Tec (Zombie Nation Remix) (192)

Miami Horror has FINALLY released his debut record Illumination and I am happy to say that it has received rave reviews here in Melbourne. We have the album currently being reviewed by one of our guest writers, so today i give you a preview with their newest single, I Look To You.

Miami Horror – I Look To You (192)

Lastly, I posted about these guys the other day as they were playing a gig round the corner from my house, I should have posted the amazing demo they submitted to Triple J.

The Count & Sinden

Saturday, August 28th, 2010

The Count & Sinden have been very extremely busy recently. Their debut LP hit the shelves a couple of days ago, they just recorded their essential mix for BBC Radio 1 which was played out a week ago and they have been promoting the hell out of their newest single After Dark Ft The Mystery Jets.

That being said, they don’t need to do much because these two together are a phenomenal pair of producers. For a couple of guys that work together on and off and have been doing so on for the last couple of years they have had huge success, which I guess is why it makes sense to make a whole record. They had hits with Beeper Ft Kid Sister and Mega.

I’ve only just got my hands on both the LP and the Essential Mix, so first thing I’m doing today is listening to both. To entice you to do the same, I’ve included some The Count & Sinden to warm up your Saturday.

Oh Land.

Wednesday, August 25th, 2010

Oh Land is a breath of fresh air… Unless you’ve heard of Sia.

That being said, Sia is a piece of shit compared to Oh Land. Oh Land is a 23 year old singer-songwriter from Denmark who’s debut album has been highly acclaimed by few due to lack of exposure to the mainstream. But that being said, she now has a new single out, which did not appear on Fauna, her 2008 release.

Sun Of A Gun is a very uplifting single due to its upbeat chorus and her amazing voice. I really hope people pick up on this one, Yuksek has. His remix is equally as good as the original, it’s a shame we can’t download it just yet.

City Calm Down Remix Competition.

Tuesday, August 24th, 2010

Occasionally I find it difficult to introduce a band because I feel as though I’m not doing them justice. City Calm Down are one of those bands.

They are a four piece from Melbourne that play a mix of electronic / indie / pop with hints of new wave. They are a fairly young band that are gaining momentum with every show and we seriously can’t get enough of them!

We met Jeremy, their bass player, on our adventure to Splendour In The Grass and we realised we could do more than just promote their music but actually get you guys to mix it.

The track is called Lost.Trapped and is taken from their debut EP.

As added incentive, our friends at STEREOSONIC have been nice enough to give us some double passes to give away, which the winner will receive, valid for any state in Australia.

The self-titled EP is available here.

The Stems are here.

Entries close NOVEMBER 15.
